Preparing For The New Year
In this blog I share some of my recent transformations. How I went from burnt out to embodying peace with the practice of mindfulness and a few other energetic tips i’ve learned along the way.
Im not sure if my recent transformations began last month or many years ago. It seems we are always changing even when we don’t ask for it. What I noticed is when I asked for guidance from the universe I was always brought the right people that showed me exactly what I needed to know. At least that’s what I believe has always ignited me, it was not one situation or move, its always been about the connections i’ve made and continue to make that have been my best teachers.
Since moving to Colorado in 2020 I felt the calling in my soul to start my own business which has been my dream since I was nineteen. It was no coincidence the career that got me to this location and unfortunately/ fortunately was lost three months after the move. while I disappointed, I knew deep in my heart the universe was calling me to something greater.
Little did I know during this transition and leap of faith, all my past trauma would resurface and while I was experiencing what felt like the hardest moments of my life there were miracles all around me the entire time. Such as a reiki teacher walking into my yoga class and inviting me to “try” it out, as well as a two year mindfulness meditation program I felt called to enroll in.
Both sparked an interest in me, and I found that the reiki teacher was also my neighbor and a successful business woman herself. A few months into reiki, she took the time to help me build a park yoga class that would inspire the business I run today. I then met someone from her class that was enrolled in the same mindfulness meditation coaching program I was enrolled in, out of two thousand people from all over the world this felt like a synchronized moment I could not ignore.
It felt like the pieces to a puzzle I had been looking for my whole life were right in front of me and I was being called to pay attention, have some compassion for myself and the trauma I had blocked out for so many years. Something I had been ignoring because it felt boring, or too much to face, yet beyond that feeling of boredom, is the unknown which requires one thing.
Being in the present moment…
Organically I could feel my energy increasing, my awareness blossom and time slow down so that I could access the moment more freely. Situations that once felt overwelming started to feel less intense as I shifted my perspective from ego (I) to a more universal perspective (we) and I could start to see the changes I was seeking.
You see we all have something were working towards, wether its developing our gifts or finding more moments of contentment as we move away from the standards of consuming and producing our western society demands from each of us. When we surrender, and empty our cup of what’s no longer in alignment for us, the universe will always give back and pour us a fresh class of inspiration.
Take a look at this short story and see if it resonates for you,
“Once there was a university professor who was known as an extremely knowledgeable person. There were many research named to him in the field of philosophy. The professor had keen interest in Zen Buddhism practices and wanted to learn more about it. He visited a famous Japanese Zen master to learn the pearls of Zen wisdom.
When he reached the Zen masters place. His disciples took him to the room of Zen Master. Zen master’s physical appearance was affable and his spirit was lofty. His face was shimmering and lot of positive energy could be felt around him. After welcoming his visitor, the Zen master asked the professor the reason of his visit. The professor told him the motive of visit “I have come to ask you to teach me about Zen.” The Zen master asked the professor, “You are known for your knowledge everywhere, please share something with me.” The Professors started telling about his research in different fields one by one. After some time, he started sharing his knowledge about Zen. The Zen master listen him silently for an hour. Zen master interrupted and asked the professor if he would like to enjoy some tea.
Knowing he should accept, the professor smiled and thanked the Zen master for his generosity.
One of the Zen master’s disciple disappeared and then quickly reappeared with two cups and some steaming tea.
The master started pouring the tea into the cup and smiled towards professor. The professor kept continuing sharing his knowledge on Zen to the master. The Zen master was pouring the tea slowly – slowly and the cup got filled fully. But he did not stop and kept pouring the tea in the cup. The tea started overflowing on the table. The professor noticed it and continued to watch as it overflowed. Soon the tea started falling on the robes of professor and he could no longer restrain himself.
The professor put his hand up and exclaimed, “Stop! Can’t you see? The cup is full already. It’s overflowing. No more will go in!” The Zen master did not stop and still he kept pouring tea. The professors got angry and rushed towards the gate. The Zen master called him, “Professor, please listen.” The professor did not stop. The master ran behind him and stopped him.
The Zen master calmly explained him the reason behind kept pouring the tea in the cup; even after it overflowed. Zen master said, “You are here to ask questions. Yet you come full. You have your own ideas and have no space. Until you have room for more, you will not accept new information. You are like that cup of tea. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup?”
A great perspective to take from this story is, try new things, give it a shot and don’t let fear of the past stop you. Everyday is a new day and we choose to keep what was in our cup from yesterday or empty it and begin again.
