Activate Your Mala With A Mantra
Whether you have a mala now or plan to get one, this is no ordinary necklace. Made of genuine crystal and stone, these necklaces have healing properties that are full of intention. Traditionally a mala is made of 108 stones and used for Japa meditation to count mantras. The ancient tool can also be used to count breaths, pray, or use in gratitude meditations. The number is significant because of the science and spirituality that originates in India. For example, there are 108 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet, in Vedic tradition, the distance between the sun and earth is 108 times the sun diameter. In tantric yoga, there are 108 energy lines described throughout the body and they all connect back to the heart chakra.
Malas can be made from many materials, the most common are wood and semi-precious gemstones. Depending on what each mala is made from will determine the energetic effects and healing properties of your necklace. Check out Mala Shop — YogaInsight (squarespace.com) to see stone descriptions.
