Shifting From I To we
Shifting from me to we
Mindfulness is a practice that starts with noticing our individual thoughts and feeling through bodily awareness. With time we can begin to shift this focus from me to us. Offering kindness towards all walks of life and nonhuman beings.
For example, I remember when my partner and I would be driving somewhere and we would see a wreck, his first remark was often must have done something stupid… and I would instantly get reactive responding in a condescending tone, does that mean they deserve to be punished or hurt?
Both comments about the accident were not right or wrong, they were said from the “I” perspective. We can get so caught up in our beliefs - that we start to disconnect from our heart’s loving presence.
If we tap into our heart space at that moment and witness the car accident without judgment and connect to the present moment of what actually happened something shifts. The ability to care and relate deepens, leaving a wondering sensation of, what if that was my relative or a loved one that had just gotten into an accident? Would I be fixated on their mistake or behavior? No, I would probably instantly offer my loving attention to send a prayer, a message that offers a sense of hope - that they are ok.
This attention has the potential to change the vibration of our planet. Because we’re no longer focused on “I” and the ego that speaks harm into existence for humanity. The choice to speak life back into everything that surrounds us is how we cultivate a culture of care, which vibrates into a frequency of love.
That’s the medicine that heals our planet and changes the world. We all have it inside of us, once we uncover the layers of judgment it begins to flow again like a river bed, steady, and clear providing nourishment to what’s right here.
